About Us:
Del’s Garden Center officially opened April 1st, 1967. Sales that first short year totaled $22 thousand dollars. The community of Spencer and surrounding area became a blessing to Del and Charin and their business grew rapidly. Greenhouses and a flower shop were added and Charin became involved in growing greenhouse crops and working as a florist. A Morton Building and addition to the store happened in 1974 along with more greenhouse space in the 70s. Del’s was incorporated in 1971 and more employees were added. Planning ahead, Del’s intends to operate the premiere Garden Center, Floral Studio, and Landscape business in Iowa.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Landscape Crew Lead to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will lead and supervise landscaping projects, ensuring high-quality work while demonstrating exceptional leadership, craftsmanship, and customer relations skills. The Landscape Crew Lead is responsible for hands-on planting, managing worksite operations, and ensuring that best-practices for safety and quality are consistently followed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead a crew of landscapers in executing various landscaping tasks, including planting, mulching, and hardscape installations.
- Ensure high standards of workmanship and adherence to project specifications and timelines.
- Train and mentor new crew members on landscaping techniques, equipment operation, safety protocols, and company policies.
- Coordinate daily tasks and responsibilities for the crew, ensuring efficient use of time and resources.
- Communicate effectively with clients and project managers to understand project needs and provide updates on progress.
- Conduct regular inspections of job sites to ensure compliance with safety standards and quality of work.
- Assist in the development of project plans, schedules, and budgets, and monitor progress against them.
- Perform regular maintenance on landscaping equipment and tools, ensuring they are in safe and efficient working condition.
- Address any issues or concerns that arise on the job site promptly and professionally.
- Foster a positive team environment that encourages collaboration, respect, and professional growth.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant training in horticulture is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance, with 1 year in a supervisory role preferred.
- Knowledge of landscaping techniques, plant identification, pest management, and horticultural practices preferred.
- Proficiency in operating landscaping equipment, such as skid loaders, trimmers, blowers, and other tools.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate team members.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to operate a truck and trailer (CDL) is a plus.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects, and work in various outdoor conditions.
